What is health coaching?

Health coaching is a personal alliance between a health coach and a client. Its primary aim is to offer guidance, education, support, and empowerment to assist the client in enhancing their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This holistic approach encompasses diverse aspects including: nutrition; exercise & movement; sleep optimization; stress management; work; family; and other areas of health and wellness.

A health coach assumes a multi-faceted role, offering:

The most formidable changes we can make are those that pertain to our own selves. These changes come burdened with resistance, guilt, feelings of unworthiness, and the ever-present notion that we fall short of being "good enough."

My approach to assisting you is deeply personalized, drawing from my formal education, ongoing learning, and informal studies in fields such as nutrition, holistic health, fitness, meditation, mindfulness, spirituality, mentoring, coaching, and corporate wellness. Complementing this are my life experiences as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, senior executive, lawyer, board director, mentor, coach, athlete, and expatriate. This diverse background uniquely equips me to guide you on your journey toward optimal physical, spiritual, and mental well-being.

My Story

I firmly believe that every individual possesses the inherent ability to heal themselves from physical and mental afflictions, as well as the various forms of pain and suffering life may bring. The power for transformation resides within each one of us. This profound truth wasn't always clear to me, but I've come to understand it on a deeply personal level.

In my younger years, I held myself to exceptionally high standards across all aspects of my life. I was a quintessential "Type A" personality, driven by perfectionism. Perpetually dissatisfied, I relentlessly pursued the next achievement. I operated in a perpetual state of overdrive, striving for success in every facet of life. However, one day, everything came to a halt.

A diagnosis of an autoimmune disease impacting my liver was a turning point. I can vividly recall the words of a highly reputable doctor who told me I would be dependent on steroids and other medications for the remainder of my life, merely managing the debilitating effects of my condition and the drugs. This prognosis was simply unacceptable to me.

I resolved to seize control of my own treatment, embarking on a journey that incorporated a macrobiotic diet and holistic bodywork. In less than four years, I completely reversed my autoimmune condition and earned certification as a macrobiotic counselor. During those transformative years, I realized that I needed to take ownership of my health, much like I had taken charge of my career. It was my responsibility to comprehend the unique intricacies of my body and understand how elements like diet, sleep, stress, anxiety, and exercise impacted its performance. I learned that it was incumbent upon me to collaborate with medical professionals and other practitioners, rather than passively assuming they knew what was best for me.

Nonetheless, my path was not without challenges. While I succeeded in healing my body with a resolute determination to conquer my illness, I was overlooking a pivotal aspect—healing my mind. My accomplishments and aspirations, whether they pertained to work, family, or personal goals, were often fueled by fear and feelings of inadequacy. Negative self-talk was a constant companion, with thoughts such as "I am not good enough" or "I don't deserve this" dominating my inner narrative. My life took a significant turn when circumstances led to another health crisis, prompting me to confront my resistance to something I had long avoided and found uncomfortable: meditation.

The scientific basis behind meditation was key in establishing my dedication to the practice. My analytical mind relished the knowledge that there was empirical evidence indicating that meditation could indeed transform one's physiology and reshape the brain. My meditation journey subsequently led me to delve into the teachings of spiritual leaders and explore new holistic practices. Most importantly, it enabled me to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery. Through this process, I came to realize the limitless potential that resides within me.

    Your confidence and comfort in our partnership are paramount on this journey. Our coaching journey begins with a foundation consultation, centered on your unique goals, motivations, and challenges. Together, we’ll explore essential aspects of your life—nutrition, sleep, fitness, stress, relationships, and more—to build a personalized wellness vision. Every session is a collaborative effort, tailored to your evolving needs, and focused on practical, achievable steps. We’ll start each meeting with a check-in, track your progress, celebrate milestones, and adapt goals as necessary.
